Second Post in 30 Days Concerning Nigeria
The Umuahians of the United States finished their sixth convention today at the Galleria. "Umuahians" being, of course, alumni of Umuahia Government College,
Umuahia, Nigeria. It was once one of West Africa's best boys' schools, but according to
this article by a Umuahia alum, the school has sadly deteriorated, labs destroyed, libraries empty. Perhaps this is why some Umuahians have to seek their fortunes overseas.

Akwaaba to Ghana
For the 50th anniversary of its independence, Ghana is holding a massive homecoming in 2007. To
continue the solid linkages between African American and Ghanaians, Ghana’s Minister for Tourism and Diaspora Relations, Hon Jake Obetsebi, kicked off a marketing campaign in Atlanta
"last week". Seems the
Atlanta Neurosurgery Foundation is a sponsor.

has worked with GSU to improve its tourism industry.

Mercifully Small Portion of the Louvre in Atlanta
From this Saturday through September 2009, Atlanta's
High Museum is hosting collections on loan from the Louvre. This lending of stuff has been called an unprecedented partnership -- and a
comparatively convenient way to see Louvre masterpieces without squeezing in with 7,000,000 other tourists for a quarter-mile jaunt down the Grand Gallery. At any given time, even the ginormous, overwhelming Louvre is only displaying about 10% of its collection.
The High is having a full day of Frenchified
activities on Saturday, including a poodle parade, presented by Barry Bourgeois of
Canine House of Style.
